The recognition reaffirms LuLu’s commitment to renewable energy, waste-to-energy solutions, and environmental leadership in the retail sector.
The awards ceremony took place at DoubleTree by Hilton, Dubai Al Jadaf, where the honors were presented by Faisal Ali Rashid, Senior Director at the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, to Huzefa Moosa Rupwala (Regional Director – Business Development), Thamban K.P (Regional Director), Ajayakumar R Nair (Regional Director), and Danish Khan (Sustainability Manager) of LuLu Retail.

LuLu Retail received three major awards:
Best Solar Project of the Year – Retail Rooftop
Company of the Year – Retail Sustainability Leadership
Project of the Year – Circular Economy & Waste-to-Energy
Leading Solar Innovation in Retail
LuLu was awarded Best Solar Project of the Year for its large-scale rooftop solar initiative rolled out across five major facilities in Dubai. The project, delivered under a 10-year lease model, is expected to generate approximately 37 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy, offsetting over 25,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
This positive environmental impact is equivalent to planting more than 414,000 tree seedlings, marking one of the largest and most ambitious solar deployments in the region’s retail sector.
Circular Economy & Waste-to-Energy Leadership
The Project of the Year – Circular Economy & Waste-to-Energy award was granted for LuLu’s innovative waste conversion program.
The initiative converts used cooking oil from its stores into biodiesel, in partnership with a certified recycler.
This biodiesel is now used to power LuLu’s logistics fleet across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and the Northern Emirates, cutting operational emissions and creating a closed-loop waste management system that supports the circular economy.
Retail Sustainability Leadership: Company of the Year
LuLu Retail also won the Company of the Year – Retail Sustainability Leadership award, highlighting its comprehensive sustainability strategy.
In 2025, LuLu expanded its solar energy projects to two major sites in Saudi Arabia – Dammam and Riyadh, while also scaling up its biodiesel waste-to-energy program across its GCC operations.
