Central Bank of Egypt Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged

Cairo, 2 April 2026

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Egypt decided on Thursday, April 2, 2026, to keep its key policy rates unchanged, in line with its assessment of recent inflation developments and outlook.

Accordingly, the overnight deposit rate was maintained at 19.0%, the overnight lending rate at 20.0%, and the rate of the main operation at 19.5%. The discount rate was also kept unchanged at 19.5%.

The decision reflects the Committee’s evaluation of prevailing inflation dynamics, as well as the evolving economic outlook since its previous meeting. as policymakers continue to balance inflation containment with maintaining monetary stability.
