Egyptian Online Car Retailer «Sylndr» Raises $15.7M Series A to Expand Nationwide and Grow Automotive Ecosystem
Cairo – 20 May 2025:
Egyptian automotive e-commerce platform «Sylndr» has secured $15.7 million in Series A funding, aiming to accelerate its geographic expansion and broaden its product portfolio. The round was led by «DPI Venture Capital» through the «Nclude Fund», with strong participation from «Algebra Ventures», «Nuwa Capital», «Raed Ventures», «Uncovered Fund», «Beltone Venture Capital», and «Camel Ventures».
Founded in November 2021 by Omar El Defrawy and Amr Mazen, «Sylndr» is transforming Egypt’s used car market through a tech-enabled, transparent platform that allows customers to confidently buy and sell pre-owned vehicles.
This latest funding milestone follows an impressive track record for the Cairo-based startup. It previously raised $12.6 million in pre-seed funding in May 2022—one of the largest of its kind in the region—followed by a $7.45 million working capital facility in November 2023.
“We’re incredibly excited about this new chapter and deeply grateful for the ongoing trust and support of our investors,” said Omar El Defrawy, Co-founder and CEO of Sylndr. “This Series A round empowers us to scale nationally, enhance our product stack, and reinforce our position as Egypt’s go-to platform for mobility.”
In 2025, Sylndr launched three strategic verticals that marked a major leap in its product evolution:
Sylndr Swift: A fully digital car financing solution.
Sylndr Plus: A platform for vehicle-related services.
Al-Ajans: A growth-enablement program tailored for local car dealers.
With the new capital, Sylndr plans to expand its reach across all major governorates in Egypt, enhance its technology infrastructure, and introduce additional innovations in its platform. The company is also set to deepen strategic partnerships with local dealers, financial institutions, and service providers—further enriching its growing automotive ecosystem.
“Sylndr is building the digital backbone of mobility in a market where trust, access, and financing remain major obstacles to car ownership,” said Ashley Lewis, Managing Partner at DPI Venture Capital. “Through its integrated model that blends commerce, credit, and technology, Sylndr is redefining how Egyptians buy and sell cars. We are proud to back their inclusive, tech-driven vision for the future of mobility in Egypt and beyond”.
