Tamweely and DSIK Signed Cooperation Framework to Promote Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship in Egypt

Cairo – 21 January 2026:

As part of its commitment to supporting sustainable economic development and advancing financial inclusion, Tamweely Financial Services announced the signing of a cooperation framework with the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (DSIK). The partnership aims to enhance financial literacy, develop entrepreneurial skills, and build capacity among entrepreneurs, clients, and professionals in the sector through structured training and capacity-building initiatives, while also supporting groups most in need of financial empowerment.

In this context, Mr. Ahmed Khorched, Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director, and Vice Chairman of Tamweely, stated that the agreement represents an important strategic step, given DSIK’s extensive international expertise in financial literacy and capacity building. He explained that the partnership aligns with Tamweely’s vision of linking finance with knowledge, strengthening the capabilities of entrepreneurs and clients, and contributing to economic growth while achieving sustainable developmental impact.

Khorched added that Tamweely firmly believes that providing finance alone is not sufficient; it must be accompanied by comprehensive financial and managerial education that enhances clients’ awareness of the importance of financing and how to use it efficiently, while also fostering a culture of commitment and responsible repayment. He emphasized that the targeted training programs will empower clients to make sound financial decisions that support the success and sustainability of their businesses.

He further noted that the agreement reflects Tamweely’s ongoing commitment to developing the ecosystem for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) financing and linking it with knowledge and expertise, thereby creating added value for both clients and employees and reinforcing the company’s developmental role in supporting entrepreneurship and delivering innovative financing solutions aligned with economic and social development goals. Khorshid also highlighted that youth represent approximately 60% of Egypt’s population, providing a broad base for entrepreneurship and significant growth opportunities in the Egyptian market.

For his part, Mr. Timo Bucher, Egypt Representative of the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (DSIK), expressed his pleasure at signing the agreement, explaining that it aims to enable Tamweely to deliver high-quality training workshops for small entrepreneurs, clients, employees, and other targeted groups. These workshops will be delivered through specialized training programs developed and owned by DSIK and implemented through Tamweely by certified trainers in line with international best practices, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in knowledge transfer and capacity building.

Bucher confirmed that this partnership represents a strategic step that is expected to have a positive impact on productivity levels, employment opportunities, and economic growth by supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises. He noted that DSIK has numerous successful experiences in countries with conditions similar to Egypt’s and looks forward to creating a new success story for entrepreneurship in the Egyptian market.
