Cairo 21 Mar 2024:

App-based courier delivery keeps growing in popularity, as more people discover the convenience and ease of using this method – especially small businesses. This is even more relevant in regard to the seasonal sales and holidays when shopping is skyrocketing. Recent market research conducted by inDrive.Couriers reveals that the affordable costs (57%), quality of service (40%), and speed when picking up an item (35%) are the most in-demand features of such services in Egypt.

Businesses are increasingly using courier apps

In Egypt, courier services are commonly used for personal deliveries – such as sending and receiving parcels to and from family and friends, and delivery of purchases (i.e. business to consumer deliveries). However, the research suggests that 17% of respondents use courier apps to fulfill their business needs such as delivering products to clients or receiving goods from their suppliers.

“We believe that the growing popularity of app-based delivery services with small and medium businesses is especially due to their flexibility and ease-of-use, which make these highly convenient services for businesses needing deliveries. There’s no need to commit to ongoing contracts or employ a full-time driver,” Andrey Kucherenkov, Head on inDrive.Delivery. “The rise of delivery apps has really changed the game, making delivery far easier to organize and more affordable, which is especially important to smaller businesses operating on tighter profit margins.”

In Egypt, more users prefer car deliveries

Depending on the region, delivery via app may offer a choice of modes – ranging from car or motorbike, to bicycle or on foot – enabling users to select the cheapest and fastest mode for their needs. In Egypt, two out of five ( 41%) respondents indicated a preference for delivery by car, and 19% more – by motorcycle or scooter – possibly as these are usually faster in navigating congested streets and heavy traffic. Probably for the same reason, less than 1% prefer foot couriers.

Why is the use of app-based delivery growing so fast?

When asked why they preferred to send packages via app courier services, respondents most commonly answered convenience, closely followed by simple habit, and speed. For example, it usually only takes around 6 or 7 minutes for a courier to pick up an order, according to inDrive data.

“With the pandemic having initially provided app-based delivery with an extraordinary boost, its convenience and ease of use have established it as part of daily life, as our research confirms,” says Andrey Kucherenkov, Head of inDrive.Couriers. “The demand for courier services keeps growing. This is an exciting time to be in this industry!”

inDrive.Couriers is a service to address all these needs – it helps citizens and businesses order same-day and on-demand delivery. There is no need to wait for transportation companies within several hours – users can order couriers through just a few clicks in the inDrive app.

In addition to the speed it also ensures affordability: its unique feature is that users can set their own price for delivery and negotiate it directly with couriers. inDrive.Couriers ensures safety and transparency of the process of ordering and delivery. All couriers go through verification including a thorough manual approval process. Then, users can track their orders in the app to make sure their package is delivered as planned – which is crucial, according to the survey.
